Each year, many of our new attendees are unfamiliar with “Alliance for Equal Justice.” This is covered in the Conference Orientation, but you can also learn more at any time by exploring the Alliance’s website.

So, what is this “Justice Joint” anyway? The Justice Joint is a magnificent mini-expo room, where conference attendees gather for short breaks on Saturday. The room includes displays from Alliance organizations, an internet café, and coffee/water. The Saturday afternoon break at 3 p.m. is a longer break that usually has snack food available. Bring a brief case or tote bag to collect the materials you pick up in the Justice Joint!

Walk-in registrations are welcome for both the Access to Justice Conference and the Bar Leaders Conference. To avoid long lines at the registration desk, think about registering on Friday before 5 p.m. or first thing Saturday morning.

Conference attendees should dress comfortably. Most attendees tend to dress casually for this conference for the workshops on Saturday and Sunday. Yakima is typically sunny and hot during this time of year. However, the convention center is air-conditioned, and it is invariably too warm for some and too cool for others. We strongly recommend that you bring appropriate layers so that you are comfortable in your workshops and meetings.

Rediscover Your Passion!
Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
ATJ and BLC players in the Palm Springs of Washington visit the Justice Joint when shoulders begin to slump and the tell-tale signs of a meltdown appear. You won’t need to catch an aerial tramway though to check email, laugh at clips from conferences past, enjoy a comforting cup of coffee, chat, snack and relax among Alliance displays and resources.

The ATJ Board Law School Relations Committee and the Laurel Rubin Farm Worker Justice Project invite you to join in celebrating the launch of a new collaboration between legal aid advocacy and legal education in Washington: the 2009-10 Laurel Rubin Rural Externship Advocacy Program (REAP), the first collaborative externship program placing law students from all three in-state law schools with legal aid programs in the Yakima Valley.
The attached flyer has details for the reception on Saturday evening, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at Wildridge Vineyard’s Tasting Room: REAP invitation.
